The United States Agency for International Development’s (USAID) Mission in Ethiopia (USAID/Ethiopia) is seeking applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified entities to implement the Surveillance for Malaria Elimination (S4ME) Activity.

The purpose of the Surveillance for Malaria Elimination (S4ME) Activity is to eliminate malaria in selected districts (also known as Woreda in Ethiopia) by improving the quality of implementation of targeted malaria elimination interventions through improvement in the identification, investigation, classification and management of malaria cases by health facilities and community platforms. The activity will test and develop models of effective malaria elimination by helping to identify and manage all malaria cases occurring in the woreda including public and private health facilities and where applicable, cases that occur in refugees, internally displaced people (IDP), and temporary residents. The effort will be locally driven with an explicit focus at the woreda level.

USAID/Ethiopia intends to award one Cooperative Agreement pursuant to this notice of funding opportunity. Subject to funding availability and at the discretion of the Agency, USAID/Ethiopia intends to provide about US$9 million – USD 9.5 million in total over five years.
