The Employment and Social Development Canada is offering funding opportunity to support the federal government’s implementation of the 2030 Agenda by strengthening partnerships and engagement with Canadians.
In 2015, Canada and all other United Nations Member States, committed to implementing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, which set 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to eliminate poverty, protect the planet, and ensure prosperity by the year 2030.
Stream Objectives
- They are funding projects that will increase public awareness, share best practices or lessons learned that support and enhance Canada’s progress on the 2030 Agenda particularly within equity-deserving groups and groups or individuals in vulnerable situations as their main objective. Funded projects must also include at least one other objective from among the following:
- activities that foster new and established partnerships bridging efforts across sectors in support of the 2030 Agenda
- activities that support and enhance Canada’s progress on the 2030 Agenda, particularly the equity-deserving groups and vulnerable populations
- activities fostering and integrating Indigenous and local knowledge into approaches and efforts to achieve the 2030 Agenda
Funding Priorities
- They may give priority to projects that:
- advance SDGs in equity-deserving groups and vulnerable populations
- target the greatest number of the 17 SDGs
- demonstrate in-kind contributions from more than one partner
- strengthen or develop new or established partnerships
- foster and integrate Indigenous and local knowledge
- bridge efforts across sectors in support of the 2030 Agenda
Funding Information
- They are currently accepting applications, from eligible organizations interested in receiving up to $200,000 in grant funding (maximum of $100,000 per fiscal year), for projects that are up to 24 months in duration.
Eligible Projects
- Your project must meet all the following criteria:
- clearly describe how it will increase public awareness, share best practices or lessons learned in support of the 2030 Agenda and clearly describe how your project will achieve at least 1 of the following:
- foster new and established partnerships across sectors in support of the 2030 Agenda
- support and enhance Canada’s progress on the 2030 Agenda, particularly equity-deserving groups
- foster and integrate Indigenous and local knowledge into approaches and efforts to achieve the 2030 Agenda
- be no longer than 24 months
- request no more than $200,000 (maximum $100,000 per fiscal year)
- clearly describe how it will increase public awareness, share best practices or lessons learned in support of the 2030 Agenda and clearly describe how your project will achieve at least 1 of the following:
Activities
- Eligible activities may include, but are not limited to the following:
- activities that support the development of educational resources and tools and dissemination of information related to the SDGs within groups or individuals in vulnerable situations
- activities that raise awareness and foster knowledge transfers, such as conferences, engagement or communications initiatives related to the SDGs at the community level within groups or individuals in vulnerable situations
- activities developed in partnership with relevant groups that include support for, or development of programs, services and resources that are designed to identify and meet the needs of equity-deserving groups and groups or individuals in vulnerable situations
- activities that build new partnerships or foster established partnership and support the multidisciplinary nature of the SDGs in order to amplify impact and strengthen resource mobilization at the community level
- activities that embed the SDGs within groups or individuals in vulnerable situations
- Examples of eligible activities:
- developing and delivering SDG Workshops and Round-tables to learn about barriers and best practices for equity-deserving groups and groups or individuals in vulnerable situations
- designing and distributing posters of Sustainable Development Goals linked to the audience intended for schools and community centres, libraries, etc.
- planning and hosting innovative approaches such as treasure hunts, storytelling sessions, Community Awareness Forums to increase visibility and interest in SDGs within communities
- developing an SDG Training Program for facilitators, teachers, etc.
Ineligible Activities
- activities that include an organization’s core, existing or on-going activities
- research activities that are outside the scope of the objectives of the CFP
Eligibility Criteria
- Your organization must be 1 of the following types:
- not-for-profit organization
- municipality
- provincial or territorial government, institution, or Crown Corporation
- Indigenous organization including:
- band council
- tribal council
- self-government entity
- coalition, network, or committee
- educational institution
- public health and social services institution
- for-profit organization provided that the nature and intent of the activity is non-commercial and not intended to generate profit
- research organization or institute
- Organizations can only submit 1 application under this Call for Proposals. Only submit a grant application or a contribution application, not both.
