The Tasmanian Government is offering Tasmanian Aboriginal Arts Mentoring Scheme to develop the capacity of young Tasmanian Aboriginal arts and cultural practitioners to undertake activities that enable them to further their careers, enrich their artistic practice and contribute to Tasmania’s arts sector.
This program is open to Tasmanian Aboriginal artists who are aged 25 years and under, or in their first five years of artistic practice.
Tasmanian Aboriginal artists are encouraged to seek funds towards a mentorship with an established Tasmanian Aboriginal artist, and/or an organisation that specialises in creating opportunities for artists to share their work with audiences in Tasmania and nationally.

Four mentorships of $10 000 are available each round.
Eligibility Criteria

Aboriginal people who have lived in Tasmania for six of the last 12 months

Arts organisations based in Tasmania

Applicants should be aged 25 years or under, or in their first five years of artistic practice.

Arts organisations should be proposing to mentor a young Aboriginal.
- Arts Tasmania accepts applications from individuals, groups and organisations.
- Individuals and groups
- If you are applying as an individual, you must be a practicing artist or arts worker who has been resident in Tasmania for six of the past twelve months.
- Groups must have at least one Tasmanian member.
- Students are eligible to apply for grants. However, any activity that is part of a course or contributes to course assessment is not eligible for funding.
- If you have received a grant from Arts Tasmania in the past and that grant has not been acquitted, you will not be eligible to apply to Arts Tasmania until your acquittal is accepted.
- Organisations
- Organisations must be registered under law (an incorporated association, or a company limited by guarantee) or created by law (a government statutory authority).
- Organisations that are not based in Tasmania may apply to certain programs for activities that benefit Tasmanian artists or audiences.
- Organisations in receipt of multi-year operational support from Arts Tasmania are not eligible to apply to other Arts Tasmania programs for the term of the agreement.
- Tasmanian or Federal Government departments and government business enterprises are not eligible to apply to Arts Tasmania.
