The Capital Region Community Foundation is seeking applications for the Capacity Building Grants program to help an organization increase its sustainability and effectiveness by strengthening management systems and governance structures.
The Capital Region Community Foundation is a public charity organized as a collection of permanent endowments. The income from these endowed funds is awarded to provide charitable funding to 501(c)3 nonprofit organizations and other eligible entities, for projects and programs that predominantly benefit residents of Clinton, Eaton and Ingham Counties, Michigan.
Examples of Capacity Building issues include:
- Board development;
- Fundraising planning;
- Governance structures;
- Leadership development;
- Long-range planning;
- Staff training and development;
- Succession planning;
- Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Training.
Funding Information
- Amount: Up to $40,000.
Criteria
- The request must focus on increasing organizational sustainability or effectiveness by strengthening management systems or governance structures.
- Applicants must have at least one paid staff and an annual operating budget of at least $100,000.
- Applicants must agree to work with Community Foundation staff to co-design a plan of action.
Application Process
BEFORE YOU BEGIN!! Please be prepared to complete and submit the document in one session – this online application will not allow you to save a draft and return to the document at a later time. To prepare, they recommend you practice on a sample application so you can gather all your information prior to beginning the application.
Capacity applications require the following attachments: Please allow time to obtain these items before you begin the application.
- A signed letter of commitment from your board chair.
- A signed letter of commitment from your CEO or Executive Director.
- Organizational Budget.
- List of Board Members with Affiliations.
- Organization’s most recent Profit & Loss Statement.
- Organization’s most recent audited financials.
At the end of the application, you will be asked to provide a digital signature. Upon signing, you will immediately receive an email with a link to confirm that it is you. This step is required and will only take a few seconds. The email will come from Adobe Sign. Once you confirm your email, the application will automatically be submitted, and you will immediately receive a copy of your completed form by email for your records.
