The Research Council of Norway is seeking applications for its Research and Innovation in the Educational Sector (FINNUT) programme to develop knowledge of high quality and relevance for policy development, the public administration, the field of practice and the individual, and promote scientific renewal in research and innovation in the educational sector.
Education plays an important role in an individual’s health, quality of life, social engagement, social integration and affiliation with working life. A high level of knowledge and expertise is crucial to the innovation capacity and competitiveness of industry as well as the sustainability of the welfare state, the formation of public opinion and democracy.
Priority Areas
The FINNUT programme will provide funding to research and innovation activities within the following thematic priority areas:
- Learning processes, assessment forms and learning outcomes;
- Practice, professional practice and competence-development;
- Governance, management, organisation and achievement of results;
- Education, society and working life.
Funding Information
The annual budget framework for the programme is roughly NOK 125 million.
Eligibility Criteria
This programme/activity normally accepts grant applications from:
- Institutions that satisfy the definition of a research institution as set out in the Research Council’s specification of the concept “research institution”.
- Entities and/or groups of entities within the central government and municipalities/counties that carry out public administration and service provision within the educational sector and organisations representing the educational sector or its users.
- The entities may be publicly or privately owned, but they must be approved by the education authorities and subject to regulations under the Ministry of Education and Research.
