U.S. Department of Justice accepting Applications for Research on Juvenile Reoffending 2020

Reducing Environmental Footprint, Improving Circularity in Extractive and Processing Value Chains

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), National Institute of Justice (NIJ) is seeking applications for funding to support research efforts that improve measurement of juvenile reoffending. NIJ encourages applicants to submit proposals for studies that will generate findings, tools, or other resources with clear and practical implications for juvenile justice policy and practice in the United States. This program furthers the Department’s mission by providing insight into juvenile reoffending with application to efforts that promote public safety and reduce crime.

The goal of this solicitation is to generate and advance knowledge with practical implications for juvenile justice policy and practice by conducting research related to juvenile reoffending and its measurement. The primary objective of this solicitation is to produce research studies that will fill gaps in the existing research literature on juvenile reoffending in areas that have been understudied or merit closer examination; and provide insights in priority areas noted above. A second objective of this solicitation is to fund research studies that will provide findings, tools, or other resources with the potential to advance more robust and comprehensive measurement, and use of juvenile reoffending data by juvenile justice agencies. This work is intended to support OJJDP’s efforts to inform methods of data collection and technologies that jurisdictions may use to evaluate data on juvenile reoffending in response to new requirements included in the Juvenile Justice Reform Act, Public Law No. 115-385, signed into law on December 21, 2018.
