Toshiba International Foundation Grant:Promoting Cultural Exchanges

The U.S. Embassy Tokyo Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State has announced small grants program, awarding a limited number of grants to individuals, non-governmental organizations, think tanks, academic institutions, and other organizations to enhance mutual understanding between the U.S. and the Japan. PAS will only consider grants that have a significant American component and are geared to Japanese audiences.

Types of Programs

The PAS Small Grants Program projects may include, but are not limited to, the following types of programs:

Thematic Areas

The PAS Small Grants Program projects may include, but are not limited to, the following themes:

  1. U.S. – Japan Bilateral Relationship
    Programs that seeks to explain U.S. policies, culture, and values and their impact on the bilateral relationship
  2. Regional Security
    Programs that address issues of regional stability, non-proliferation, and counter-terrorism, as well as exchanges that promote regional cooperation and enhance stability in the Asia-Pacific.
  3. Economic Growth
    Programs related to trade, investment, economic integration, entrepreneurship, innovation, intellectual property rights, and women’s empowerment.
  4. Social Issues
    Programs that seek to promote a better understanding of human rights and diversity and inclusion.
  5. Transnational Challenges
    Programs related to climate change, clean energy, ocean preservation, and global health.
  6. English Teaching
    Programs that promote teacher training in areas related to English teaching, or those that enhance English learning among Japanese youth.
  7. Education
    Programs related to study abroad, the internationalization of Japanese universities, and/or capacity the building of linkages between American and Japanese institutions of higher learning.

Award Information

The estimated total program funding available will be $100,000.
