The U.S. Embassy in Barbados, the Eastern Caribbean, and the OECS has announced a call for project proposals for the U.S. Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) for 2018.
Proposals will be considered for projects that seek to preserve cultural heritage in Antigua and Barbuda; Barbados; Dominica; Grenada; St. Kitts and Nevis; St. Lucia; and St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
Funding Areas
Through the AFCP program, the U.S. Department of State supports projects that adhere to the following guidelines and international standards for the preservation of cultural heritage. These activities may include:
- Cultural sites: Such as, but not limited to, the conservation of historic buildings, the preservation of an archaeological site, or the documentation of cultural sites in a region for preservation purposes.
- Cultural objects and collections: From a museum, site, or similar institution, including but not limited to, archaeological and ethnographic objects, paintings, sculptures, manuscripts, and general museum conservation needs.
- Forms of traditional cultural expression: Such as the documentation and audiovisual recording of traditional music, preservation of indigenous languages, and support for training in the preservation of traditional applied arts or crafts in danger of extinction.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible:
- Must be non-commercial entities, such as non-governmental organizations, museums, ministries of culture, or similar institutions and organizations.
- Must be able to demonstrate that applicants have the requisite experience and capacity to manage projects to preserve cultural heritage.
