The U.S. Embassy in Gaborone, Botswana has announced an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out projects through the Ambassador’s Special Self Help (ASSH) Program.

The Ambassador’s Self Help Fund in Botswana provides grants to assist small-scale community development projects that improve basic economic or social conditions at the village level.

The objective of the fund is to encourage self-reliance within local communities and to further U.S. Embassy health and development priorities in Botswana.

Participants and Audiences

All applicants must be registered Non-Profit Organizations (NPOs) and have been in operation for at least one year to be eligible for funding. Proposals are welcome from Community Based Organizations (CBOs), Faith Based Organizations (FBOs), and Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) that work directly with communities. Organizations with currently running projects may apply as long as they justify the need for more resources in new directions.
