The U.S. Embassy in Djibouti and the Cultural Heritage Center (“the Center”) of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs has announced the 2018 call for proposals for the Ambassadors Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP) Small Grants Competition.

The AFCP competition demonstrates the United States’ commitment to protecting cultural heritage. In Djibouti, the AFCP competition aims to preserve cultural sites or objects and museum collections of historical or cultural significance to Djiboutian’ s. Individual awards can range from $10,000 to $200,000.

AFCP prioritizes project activities that are appropriate and in keeping with international standards for the preservation of cultural heritage. These activities may involve:

Eligibility Criteria

The Center defines eligible project applicants as reputable and accountable noncommercial entities, such as non-governmental organizations, museums, ministries of culture, or similar institutions and organizations that are able to demonstrate that they have the requisite experience and capacity to manage projects to preserve cultural heritage.
