The U.S. Embassy Jordan Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State has announced that funding is available through its Public Diplomacy Small Grants Program.
Priorities
The Public Affairs Section at U.S. Embassy Jordan small grants are focused on projects that clearly support their mission priorities. The Small Grants Program will focus on the below Strategic Priorities:
- ECONOMIC STABILITY: Workforce Development – Expanding Employability and Creating/Supporting Economic Opportunities, especially for youth
- Increase the percentage of women in the workforce;
- Expand the role of education in preparing young Jordanians for the workforce;
- Promote culture, tourism and the arts as a profession and growing sector of the Jordanian economy; and
- Promote entrepreneurship and critical thinking.
- Supporting English Language teaching and usage in Jordan.
- POLITICAL STABILITY THROUGH AN ENGAGED CIVIL SOCIETY: Strengthening, Advancing and Fostering Civil Society, NGO/CSO Development and Promoting Active Citizenry, and disability rights.
- Promote multiculturalism, critical thinking, and diversity of thought and innovative approaches to solving societal challenges.
- CVE: Countering Radical Extremism and the Forces that Contribute to Radicalization
- Amplify, support and create moderating forces.
- MUTUAL UNDERSTANDING: Improving Jordanian perception of the United States and increase/build understanding of U.S. culture, values and policies
- Exchange of people, both in-person and virtually, from all sectors of society.
Target Audiences
Proposals should describe both the primary and secondary audiences for the program, including numbers anticipated to be reached. Primary audiences are those who will participate directly in the program, while secondary audiences are those who will be reached by the project’s primary audiences, as a result of their participation. For example, in a teacher training program, the primary audience would be the teachers who will be trained, while the secondary audience would be their students. Audiences who are considered a priority for grants funded under this APS are:
- Jordanian Youth
- Young leaders, in either the 13-18 year old or the 18-45 year old age ranges
- Women and girls
- Alumni of U.S. Embassy-sponsored cultural exchange programs
- Leading decision-makers in various sectors of Jordanian society
- Teachers and academic professionals
Funding Information
Award amounts up to $10,000. Awards larger than $10,000 may be possible but are very rare.
Eligibility Criteria
The following types of organizations are eligible to apply for grants under this program:
- Registered not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations
- Individuals
- Non-profit or governmental educational institutions
- Governmental institutions
