U.S. Embassy Moscow’s Public Affairs Section (PAS) is pleased to announce “America Works in Russia,” which supports American and Russian engagement in the area of business, entrepreneurship, and higher education.
PAS Moscow invites proposals for projects that promote an understanding of entrepreneurship; American business, workplace, and legal values; and increases the entrepreneurship skills and career opportunities of the Russian people.
The program promotes a broader understanding of the impact of American business partnerships in Russia while providing tangible skills to Russian business owners, entrepreneurs, target populations, and youth. Competitive proposals should increase collaboration between the United States and Russia, by helping Russian citizens become more competitive in the international business market and gain a greater understanding of the role of innovation, rule of law, labor rights, and environmentally-sound business practices. Competitive proposals should also include a connection with American expert(s), organization(s), or institution(s) that will promote increased cooperation between the people of the United States and Russia even after the program has ended.
Funding Information
- Applicants may apply for funding for any amount up to $200,000.
Themes
Proposals can include, but are not limited to, the following themes:
- Entrepreneurship and Business
- Improvement of entrepreneurship and small business skills for Russian youth, women, minorities, and other under-represented groups;
- Promoting free, fair, and open communication, trade, and investment opportunities between the United States and Russia;
- Highlighting the contributions of American companies in Russia;
- Women’s economic empowerment.
- Rule of Law in Business
- Responsible business conduct;
- Disability Rights in the workplace;
- Strengthening intellectual property protection;
- Fair labor practices;
- Eco-friendly business practices and environmentally sustainable businesses;
- Prevention of the movement of illicit goods, including trafficking in persons and wildlife;
- Legal rights of corporations and individuals in business;
- Corporate social responsibility.
- U.S. Higher Education
- Promotion of the U.S. university system as a study destination for Russians;
- U.S. higher education as a pathway to increased income and prosperity for Russia;
- The U.S. university application process;
- Linking U.S. and Russian universities and students;
- Highlighting the voices and achievements of Russian alumni of U.S. universities.
- Agriculture
- Sharing agricultural practices;
- Creation of agricultural trade links
- Free and fair trade of agricultural commodities;
- Community-supported farming;
- Farm to table – organic markets and cuisine.
Who can apply?
- U.S. and Russian nonprofits, institutions of higher education, NGOs and civil society, museums, parks, reserves, and community organizations.
- Corporate entries and individuals may only receive grant funding in limited circumstances.
Eligible Applicants
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education;
- Individuals;
- Nonprofits that do not have a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education;
- For-profit organizations other than small businesses;
- Small businesses;
- Private institutions of higher education.
