Deadline: 30 June 2017
The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy New Delhi (PAS New Delhi) is seeking proposals for its project entitled “Teach in India” to develop and implement a seven-week student teaching internship project for 12-24 American undergraduate education majors in India.
This project will provide 12-24 socio-economically less advantaged pre-service student teachers preparing to work in American public schools at the middle and secondary school level with partial or full scholarships to carry out part of their student teaching requirement in India.
Goals
- Encourage more Americans to study, teach and intern in India by providing undergraduate and graduate students who plan to teach in American public schools at the middle and secondary school level with opportunities to dig deeply into Indian culture, forge lasting ties with Indian counterparts and fulfill degree course requirements by completing part of their student teaching requirement while abroad.
- Strengthen people-to-people ties between the United States and India by bringing together American educators and Indian students to share experiences and cultures and create individual and institutional linkages.
- Provide Indian students who may be considering pursuing further studies in the U.S. with insights into the American educational system by exposing them to American teaching methods as well as America’s holistic approach to education with its emphasis on extracurricular activities and community service.
