The U.S. Embassy in Prague has announced a special competition to provide support for Anti-Corruption projects which aim to promote good governance, citizen activism, transparency, and in general work towards ending corruption in the Czech Republic.
The Embassy is soliciting proposals with outstanding merit that support the U.S. Government’s goals of promoting openness, transparency, and accountability. Preference will be given to individuals and institutions with a proven track record of executing superior programs.

- Public awareness campaigns
- Engagement of civil society and civic activism
- Depoliticizing the civil service
- Protecting whistleblowers
- Strengthening transparency in the public procurement process and in the financing of political parties
- Regulation of lobbying activities
- Support for Czech police and prosecutorial services in their efforts to improve their capability to effectively investigate and prosecute criminality and public corruption
- Safeguarding the integrity of law enforcement institutions
Note: Embassy grants cannot be used to fund religious organizations or partisan political activity; individual trips abroad (i.e. out of the Czech Republic); trade activities; fundraising campaigns; charitable activities; humanitarian aid; commercial projects; scientific research; projects whose primary aim is the institutional development and operational costs of the organization; health care; or representational expenses (lunch, alcoholic beverages, flowers, etc.). The Embassy also cannot give grants to commercial or for-profit firms.
Funding Information
Grant proposals should range from $5,000 to $25,000.
How to Apply
- Applicants can fill the application form and send it electronically as an attachment (in DOC format) at the address given on the website. Proposals must be in English.
- Organizations applying for assistance awards must obtain a Dun & Bradstreet (D&B) DUNS number and register in SAM (System for Award Management) prior to being eligible to receive federal assistance funding.
- Note: Awards to individuals are exempt from this requirement as are awards issued to foreign organizations for a one-time award (first time grantees) of less than $25,000.
