The Embassy of United States in Mozambique Public Affairs Section is now accepting applications for the next round of funding for the Ambassador’s Fund for Cultural Preservation (AFCP).

The Department of State established the AFCP at the request of the U.S. Congress in 2001 to demonstrate the United States’ commitment to preservation and protection of cultural heritage around the world. Since 2001, the fund has awarded $55 million in support of more than 870 projects in more 125 countries.

AFCP-supported projects include the restoration of ancient and historic buildings, assessment and conservation of rare manuscripts and museum collections, preservation and protection of important archaeological sites, and the documentation of vanishing traditional craft techniques and indigenous languages.
