U.S. Embassy Tokyo: Technology to Foster Inclusion of People with Disabilities

Enabling Lives Initiative Grant in Singapore

Deadline: 31-Mar-21

The U.S. Embassy Tokyo’s Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program that aims to promote social inclusion of people with disabilities, with a particular focus on promoting job and career development for people with disabilities through technology.

Program Objectives

Last year, the United States celebrated the 30th anniversary of the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the landmark legislation that prohibits discrimination against individuals with disabilities in all areas of public life, including jobs, schools, transportation, and all other public and private places that are open to the general public.

Technology helps to lower many social and economic barriers for people with disabilities. Through AI, assistive, and adaptive technologies, as well as others for tasks such as reading and writing documents, communicating, and searching for information on the internet, people with disabilities extensively utilize technology to assist with greater accessibility.
