The U.S. Embassy Tokyo’s Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out workshops and/or exchanges on regional security, civil society, and multilateral cooperation to strengthen the U.S.-Japan Alliance and ensure the stability and prosperity of the Indo-Pacific region.
Program Objectives
- The U.S.-Japan Alliance celebrated sixty years in 2020. To ensure the future success of the Alliance, the next generation of U.S.-Japan leaders must be committed to this bilateral partnership. This Alliance is key to achieving a secure and prosperous Indo-Pacific.
- Despite the many challenges to realizing this vision, including territorial and maritime disputes, differing economic approaches, environmental and health concerns, and historical considerations, a strong U.S.-Japan partnership and multilateral cooperation are needed to address these challenges and ensure economic prosperity, good governance, and peace and security become a reality for all in the Indo-Pacific.
Funding Information
- Length of performance period: Up to 24 months
- Number of awards anticipated: 1-2 awards (dependent on amounts)
- Award amounts: awards may range from a minimum of $5,000 to a maximum of $70,000
- Total available funding: $70,000
- Program Performance Period: Proposed programs should be completed in 2 years or less.
Priority Region: Japan
Participants and Audiences: The program should be geared toward Japanese audiences, but also include participants from other countries in the Indo-Pacific region.
Eligible Applicants
The following organizations are eligible to apply:
- Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/nongovernmental organizations;
- Public and private educational institutions;
- Public international organizations and governmental institutions;
- Individuals.
