The U.S. Embassy Tokyo’s Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for proposals to manage and administer projects designed to engage with Japanese youth and to deepen the understanding of U.S.-Japan relations, roles of multi-lateral corporations, and U.S. values among Japanese youth.
Program Objectives
- In this ever-changing world, young people are bombarded with influencers from all sides. While having options is good, also they need guidance and mentorship from today’s exemplary leaders, influencers, and change-makers.
- The Embassy welcomes proposals that address these complex issues. The proposal should detail the specific social issue(s) being addressed, explain the approaches that are being implemented to solve these issues and highlight its impact, effectiveness, and future sustainability. The proposal must contain an element that focuses on the collaborative efforts between the U.S. and Japan.
Priority Areas
The Embassy is particularly interested in supporting the following priority areas:
- Nurturing next-generation leaders of Japan and the United States;
- Discussing roles of multi-lateral corporations;
- Deepening the understanding of U.S. cultures and values among Japanese youth.
Funding Information
- Length of performance period: Up to 24 months.
- A number of awards anticipated: 2-5 awards (dependent on amounts).
- Award amounts: awards may range from a minimum of $5,000 to a maximum of $50,000.
- Total available funding: $80,000.
- Program Performance Period: Proposed programs should be completed in 2 years or less.
Priority Region
- Japan, United States, Indo-pacific region.
Participants and Audiences
- Programs should target Japanese students, and American students when appropriate.
- Programs designed to train influencers and teachers/mentors for youth are also eligible.
Eligible Applicants
The following organizations are eligible to apply:
- Not-for-profit organizations, including think tanks and civil society/non-governmental organizations.
- Public and private educational institutions.
- Public international organizations and governmental institutions.
