The U.S. Embassy Public Affairs Section in New Delhi is seeking proposals from organisations for a grant program entitled “WE Can: Workshops and Business Plan Competition for Women Entrepreneurs” to target aspiring young female entrepreneurs throughout the major cities of the North India region with the aim of giving them the skills necessary to build their own enterprises.
The program will consist of a series of workshops to take place in New Delhi and a minimum of four other cities throughout North India (a minimum of five workshops total). Each workshop will be at least a week long and will include a minimum of thirty women.
Benefits
- In the workshops, the grantee will train the women on the basics of building a business, teaching them how to turn an idea into an investment-ready business plan.
- It also includes coaching on the basics of conducting market research, making a pitch, writing a plan, putting together a team, and seeking investment.
- The participants will be young women who already have some ideas about the kinds of endeavors they would like to start, but who seek further training on how to transform their ideas into actual businesses.
- The grantee will organize and implement the competition, with winners from each city then traveling to New Delhi for a final round of the competition to be held at the New Delhi American Center.
Funding Information: The availability of funding range is from $80,000.00 to $100,000.00
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligibility is open to all non-profit, non-governmental organizations. Individuals are not eligible for an award.
- Organizations may sub-contract with other entities, but only one, non-profit, non-governmental entity can be the prime recipient of the award. When sub-contracting with other entities, the responsibilities of each entity must be clearly defined in the proposal.
- U.S. Embassy New Delhi grants/cooperative agreements cannot be used to fund religious or partisan political activity; fundraising campaigns; commercial projects; scientific research; projects whose primary aim is the institutional development of the organization, or illegal activities.
- The proposals should include a plan for how the grantee intends to offer continued support or incentives to the top ventures that come out of the competition, which could include, among other things, extended training or mentoring opportunities.
