U.S. Mission to Costa Rica announces Strengthening Government through Civil Society Engagement

Request for Proposals: Watchdog Reporting for Positive Changes in Georgia

Deadline: 22-Jun-21

The U.S. Embassy in San Jose, Costa Rica, announces a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) to strengthen government institutions through civil society engagement.

The funds supporting this NOFO will focus on:
Host nation governments uphold the values and practices of liberal democracy; citizens hold their governments accountable for these actions.
Objective: Civil society provides support to improve basic local, municipal, or central government services. Proposals should be oriented toward activities by civil society organizations working to improve, expand or complement the delivery of government services, particularly to vulnerable and/or marginalized communities and in areas outside of the Central Valley but within Costa Rica, in an effort to help create strong, capable, and accountable governments. In addition, civil society provides support to increase the accountability of local, municipal, or central governments to its citizens and ensures that citizens hold their government accountable for its actions.
Funding Information
U.S. Embassy San Jose expects to award approximately three to five grant agreements based on this NOFO. The anticipated total U.S. Federal funding amount is $750,000. The period of performance for each award is up to two years with an anticipated start date of September 30, 2021.
