U.S. Mission to South Africa: 2019-2020 Fulbright Program Logistics

The U.S. Embassy South Africa Public Affairs Section, U.S. Department of State (PAS) is pleased to announce a call for proposals to manage the logistics for participants in the 2019-20 Fulbright Foreign Student Program and the 2019-20 Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar Program.

The grantee will work cooperatively with the Public Affairs Sections in Pretoria, Durban, Cape Town, and Johannesburg to manage the logistics for participants in the 2019-20 Fulbright Foreign Student Program and the 2019-20 Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar Program.

The Fulbright Program was created in 1946 under legislation introduced by Senator J. William Fulbright of Arkansas. Since then over 2000 South Africans have participated in this exchange.

Fulbright Foreign Student Program – The program brings South African grantees to the U.S. to pursue a Master’s or Ph.D. degree at an American higher education institution. Scholarships provide funding for up to two years of study.

Fulbright Visiting Research Scholar Program – The program provides grants to South African scholars and academics to conduct independent post-doctoral research at a U.S. academic or research institution for typically three to nine months.
