UN announces Grant to support Crime Prevention in Ukraine

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced the applications to support crime prevention by strengthening partnerships with police in Donetsk and Zaporizhia oblasts.

The grant is aimed at the prevention of offenses and other negative phenomena related to drug and alcohol abuse.

The purpose of this announcement is to provide information on the police-community partnership grant competition for NGOs operating in Donetsk and Zaporizhia oblasts through the UN Peacebuilding and Peacebuilding Program and to explain the procedure for submitting project proposals. The announcement sets out the criteria for meeting the requirements of the competition, the process of submitting and selecting project proposals, as well as the criteria for evaluating projects that will be selected within this competition.

UNDP is conducting this grant competition to reduce alcohol and drug abuse among young people by involving the population in partnership with the police in the prevention of crime and other adverse events related to the distribution, sale and abuse of drugs, as well as alcohol abuse.

The UN Peacebuilding Program is implemented by four UN agencies: the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the United Nations Framework for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment (UN Women), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. (FAO).

The program is supported by twelve international partners: the European Union (EU), the European Investment Bank (EIB), the US Embassy in Ukraine, and the governments of Denmark, Canada, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway, Poland, Switzerland, Sweden and Japan.

Target Areas

Support the prevention of offenses and other negative phenomena related to drug and alcohol abuse, through the interaction of police and the population on a partnership basis in Donetsk and Zaporizhia regions .
