UN Women: Grenada Spotlight Initiative to End Violence

The UN Women Multi-Country Office (MCO) – Caribbean, seeks to partner with a Responsible Party (CSO) to support capacity development for civil society organisations on effective joint advocacy on GEWE and VAWG with parliament, and to support movement building and sustainability of the women’s movement and civil society through volunteerism and public sensitization across Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

The Grenada Spotlight Initiative will build on lessons learned from former and existing programmes with its partners, including CSOs, development agencies such as UN agencies, EU, and others to address bottlenecks hindering progress and to build on successes to ensure a successful and sustainable country programme achieving visible gains to End Violence Against Women and Girls (EVAWG) in Grenada.

Pillar
Pillar 6: Women’s Rights Groups, Autonomous Social Movements and Civil Society Organizations

• The project objectives will be met through the achievement of the following outcomes and outputs.
  • Pillar 6: Output 6.1 – It is expected that women’s rights groups and relevant CSOs, have increased opportunities and support to share knowledge, network, partner and jointly advocate for GEWE and ending VAWG, including family violence, with relevant stakeholders at sub-national, national, regional, and global levels.
    • One grant to a CSO to provide training for women’s rights organisations (WROs) and CSOs on effective advocacy with parliaments (15,000 USD equivalent in local currency).
    • One or more grants to a CSO coalition/consortiums will work jointly to set up a CSO network, including public sensitisation on the roles of civil society, pairing of interns and resources with organisations, and mobilising interest in volunteerism for civil society (15,000 USD equivalent in local currency).

  • The expected duration of this partnership is between 20th March 2023 – 30th September 2023. Extensions will not be permitted as programme closure will begin from October 2023, to allow sufficient time for project and programme reporting.

Countries to be covered: Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.

Competencies

• Technical/functional competencies required:
  • Responsible Party must be a Registered Non-Governmental Organization/ Civil Society Organisation.
  • At least 3 years’ experience working with gender equality and women’s rights, including elimination of violence against women.
  • At least 3 years’ experience implementing GBV/VAWG programmes and initiatives.
  • Experience with working with one or more of the identified population groups would be considered an asset.
• Other competencies, which while not required, can be an asset for the performance of services:
  • Previous experience working on United Nations or donor-funded projects.
  • An adequate number of trained professional and administrative staff or contractors to be able to implement, monitor and report on the project.
