UN Women East and Southern Africa is seeking proposals to be partner with a civil society organization, institution, or network to conduct research on the extent to and ways that ending violence against women and girls (VAWG) investments in the region have influenced national commitments and financing for ending VAWG.
The overall focus will explore how investments in dedicated ending VAWG interventions contribute to evidence generation and partnerships with Governmentswhichcan then increase political will, investment, and accountability to uphold their obligations on the rights of women and girls.
Objectives
- The research will improve the analysis available on trends in financial investments in ending VAWG in ESA and how these investments facilitate State accountability for the prevention and response to violence against women and girls.
- This will contribute to evidence on how ending VAWG investments can most effectively contribute to strengthened State accountability for upholding the rights of women and girls.
- It will focus attention to the East and Southern Africa Region, in support of African Union Member States, regional bodies and partners with existing commitments, such as the Generation Equality Action Coalition on Gender-Based Violence, as well as future investments, such as the forthcoming AU Trust Fund for African Women.

Funding Information
The budget range for this proposal should be up to $45,000.
Duration: The Research is expected to start by July 2022 and be completed by the end of December 2022 (6 months).
Competencies
- UN Women is soliciting proposals from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs). Women’s organizations or entities are highly encouraged to apply.
- UN Women invite qualified parties to submit Technical and Financial Proposals to provide services associated with the UN Women requirements for a Responsible Party.
- Technical/functional competencies required by submitting organization
- At least 7 years of experience in designing and conducting research and analysis on gender equality issues
- Registered organization with presence in East and Southern Africa and networks in countries in the region
- Proven track record of working on ending violence against women and girls and policy advocacy
- Ability to operate and conduct research in English
- Other competencies, which while not required, can be an asset for the performance of services
- Previous work experience with UN agencies or other international development agencies is an advantage.
- Ability to operate in French and Portuguese are an asset.
