UN Women Partnership Call for NGOs to promote Gender Equality in Guyana

Deadline: 20-Feb-23

UN Women Multi-Country Office (MCO) Caribbean is seeking to partner with Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in Guyana, to engage the private sector in promoting gender equality women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace and community, including support for addressing issues related to Family Violence.

The European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) have embarked on a new, global, multi-year initiative focused on eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG) – The Spotlight Initiative (SI). The Initiative is so named as it brings focused attention to this issue, moving it into the spotlight and placing it at the centre of efforts to achieve gender equality and women’s empowerment, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

The overall goal of the Spotlight Initiative in Guyana is to reduce Family Violence by addressing the root causes of violence against women and girls (VAWG) with an emphasis on prevention.
