The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Uzbekistan has announced the competition for the selection of business projects for financing/co-financing (grant support) and implementation in the pilot areas of Yangiabad (Tashkent region) and Chorkesar (Namangan region).
This competition is aimed at developing the business potential of target communities and providing jobs in the target areas of the project.
Goals
- The main goal of the competition is to create jobs, incl. ensuring employment of women/girls, vulnerable categories of the population, identifying and promoting the development of business initiatives in pilot areas.
- The following sectors are recommended for the development of pilot districts: food production, consumer essentials, animal husbandry, poultry farming, production of building materials, tourism development, textile production, textile haberdashery, primary processing of wool, production of natural leathers, bristles and brushes, food processing, pharmaceutical products (oils, including essential oils, medicinal preparations and tinctures), etc.
Funding Information
The allocated amount for co-financing is up to 10,000 USD.
Eligibility Criteria
- UNDP invites companies that have been operating for at least 2 years both in the target areas of the project and beyond. However, the main condition is the implementation of a business project in the above cities and with the involvement of residents of these cities.
- Financial support (grants) for business projects selected as part of the competition is carried out through the purchase of equipment, office equipment, building materials, etc.). Grant support is not provided either in cash or to increase working capital.
