UNDP is pleased to announce applications for Assessment of Economic Valuation of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services in secure Himalaya project landscapes in Uttarakhand to support the Government of India and State Governments to effectively promote sustainable land and forest management in alpine pastures and forests in high range Indian Himalayan ecosystems that secure sustainable livelihoods and ensure the conservation of globally significant biodiversity and threatened species.

Objective

The objective of this assignment is to undertake economic valuation of biodiversity and ecosystem services in select project landscapes, to make a strong economic case for mainstreaming biodiversity and ecosystem services into planning, programming and decision making of relevant economic sectors, for ensuring integrated and sustainable socio-economic and environmental development.

Outcomes

The project would be implemented over a period of six years in the high-altitude trans-Himalayan region and has the following major outcomes:
