The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has announced the proposals for the establishment of viable and competitive female microenterprises in Martissant and La Saline.

This is a project that aims to reduce community violence by supporting the population through the establishment and strengthening of community structures through the establishment of 13 community platforms in 13 target neighborhoods of the project in Martissant. and La Saline. In addition, the project aims to improve the economic conditions of the beneficiaries through the creation of temporary jobs (Works with High Intensity of Labor), the training of young people towards employability as well as the provision of technical support and finance women’s microenterprises in Martissant and La Saline.
The goal of this initiative is to facilitate the establishment of viable and competitive female microenterprises in Martissant and La Saline in order to guarantee the economic and financial autonomy of women and thus contribute to the maintenance of a peaceful, safe and stable climate.
Objectives
- The objective of this call is to facilitate the establishment of viable and competitive women’s micro-enterprises in Martissant and La Saline in order to guarantee the economic and financial autonomy of women and thus contribute to the maintenance of a peaceful, safe and stable climate. .
- Create and strengthen 130 women’s microenterprises in the communities of Martissant and La Saline in the 13 project intervention districts.
- Promote the acquisition of management skills and the creation of income-generating activities among women in various sustainable sectors.
- Promote the involvement of women in stability, violence reduction and local development
- Set up a local federation for the defense of the rights of micro-entrepreneurs in Martissant and La Saline
Funding Information
Bid amounts must represent a minimum of US$8,000.00. for direct interventions in a single community and a maximum of US$11,500.00; or US$149,500 for direct interventions in communities, activities or geographic areas within the same country, as declared in the terms of reference.
Final Beneficiaries
Eligible offers will focus on microfinance and will target women’s microenterprises owned by women living in the vulnerable neighborhoods of Martissant and La Saline as direct and final beneficiaries.
Deliverabes
- Presentation of a manual describing the methodology or approach to be used within the framework of the intervention including a detailed timetable of activities.
- Presentation of an inventory and diagnosis report of female microenterprises including a list of eligible beneficiaries.
- Training of beneficiaries on the basis of a manual or guide previously submitted and approved by UNDP.
- Presentation of 130 business plans allowing the granting of financial assistance including tools and/or documents facilitating the transfer of funds to micro-enterprises.
- Presentation of a follow-up/coaching and support plan for women’s micro-enterprises.
- Creation of a federation of micro-entrepreneurs in Martissant and La Saline as well as the operating documents of the said federation.
Qualification Required
- At least 10 years of general experience including 7 relevant years in microfinance;
- Have already executed contracts on behalf of the State, NGOs or other national or international actors;
- Experience of working in a difficult and high-risk socio-political and security context;
- Work experience in high security risk neighborhoods specifically in the carbolic areas of Port-au-Prince (Cité Soleil, La Saline, Matissant, etc.) is an asset;
- Demonstrated experience in preparing high quality written reports in an accurate and concise manner;
- Experience of working with local communities and actors (the informal sector, small traders, women’s groups, cooperatives, OCB, CASEC, town hall, etc.);
- Good knowledge / understanding of the operating dynamics of microfinance at the national level.
- Encourage the increased participation of women in the implementation team.
- Experience with the United Nations in particular with the UNDP is an asset.
