The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is calling for proposals from Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), including NGOs for grants to provide support to survivors of Conflict Related Sexual Violence in Tambura County, Western Equatoria State, South Sudan.
The project aims to empower women and girls held by pro-Riek Machar SPLA in Opposition (SPLA-IO) in Western Equatoria to reintegrate into their communities and reassert themselves as agents of change. The target group consists of women and girls who have been victims of sexual violence while held on SPLA-IO military bases for prolonged periods; while in captivity, most abductees have likely been subjected to different forms of sexual violence.
Objectives
- The main objective of the grant is to identify a civil society organization (CSO), national non-governmental organizations (NNGO) or community-based organization (CBO) with operational presence and capacities in Tambura County in Western Equatoria State to empower survivors to help them recover from the experience of sexual violence, captivity, or other abuses and contribute to the creation of an enabling, stigma-free environment conducive to the reintegration of sexual violence survivors in the communities. Availability of support for former female abductees will also motivate women and girls still living in IO bases to return to civilian life.
- More particularly, the activities will:
- Empower 195 CRSV survivors in Western Equatoria to recover from sexual violence and captivity by supporting their transition and reintegration into civilian life.
- Sensitize local stakeholders on stigmatization (security forces, civil society, communities) to support CRSV survivors and work towards prevention and mitigation of sexual violence in conflict
Funding Information
The budget should be detailed, complete, rational, and realistic, and must not exceed the equivalent of USD$ 500,000
Expected Results
- 195 CRSV survivors are empowered in Western Equatoria, and recovered from sexual violence and captivity, and reintegrated into civilian life (Using 30 different events to achieve)
- All stakeholders including security forces, civil society, community at large are better educated and informed to support the survivors, refrain from stigmatizing them and work towards prevention and mitigation of sexual and gender-based violence in Tambura.
Eligibility Criteria
The CSO/NNGO/CBO must meet the following criteria to be eligible for selection:
- Be legally registered as CSO/NNGO/CBO with the Ministry of Justice and Constitutional Affairs/Relief and Rehabilitation Commission and in possession of a valid registration certificate.
- Mandate and funding document should be in line with the activities for which the fund is being sought.
- At least two years bank statement (One of the statements must be in a current form)
- Recent audit report
- HACT Micro-assessment report
- Have an established office and experience in implementing similar/related activities.
- Reference letter/recommendation letter from an entity worked with before.
- Proposal name should be: From Victimhood empowered citizens – Survivors of Conflict Related Violence (CRSV) as change agents in their communities.
