UNDP is launching a call for proposals for its ‘CSO Data Encouragement Fund’ to strengthen the capacity of CSOs to become reliable partners in collecting, analyzing, presenting, and applying data.
The fund will serve as an encouragement for research only and is not meant to cover the wider organizational running costs. The fund’s objective is to produce the following end product:
- A research report based on primary data (through conducting a survey) or secondary data (available and validated data)in one of the specified research areas.
Objective: Strengthen the evidence-base of CSOs.
Scope of Work
- The proposals are requested to indicate their affiliation to one or more of the following areas, related to the SDG framework:
- poverty reduction, including enhancing resilience (SDG 1)
- decent work and economic growth, including work in specific sectors such as garments (SDG 8)
- environment and climate action, including disaster risk reduction and natural resource management (SDG 13,14,15)
- peace & justice, including housing land and property right and legal assistance (SDG 16).
Funding Information
- The budget for any grant application submitted by an applicant organization should fall within the range of up to MMK5,000,000.
- The amount requested in the proposal should align with the organization’s administrative and financial management capacities. In principle, the project duration will be max 5 months; shorter periods may be considered for lower value proposals. Overheads can be charged to a maximum of 7%.
- Project duration (in months) and start and end date: Fixed: 5 months from 1 July 2023 to 31 November 2023.
Activities
- Activity 1: Prepare a Concept Note for the research outlining the objectives and methodology
- Activity 2: If primary research, develop a questionnaire, sample strategy, and conduct the survey
- Activity 3: Write an evidence-based analytical report
- Activity 4: Present your findings and disseminate if preferable.
Note: Throughout the grant period, UNDP will provide technical backstopping for carrying out research.
Eligibility Criteria
- Myanmar CSOs that would like to –
- improve capacity in data gathering and analysis
- produce relevant, accessible and usable knowledge products.
