Applications are open for the Small Grants Programme (SGP) of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) that is implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP).

SGP grant-making in over 125 countries promotes community-based innovation, capacity development, and empowerment through sustainable development projects of communities local civil society organizations with special consideration for indigenous peoples, women, and youth.

The goal of the chemicals focal area in GEF-6 (2015-2018) is to promote the sound management of chemicals throughout their life-cycle in ways that lead to the minimization of significant adverse effects on human health and the global environment. In GEF-6, SGP aims to support community-level initiatives and actions to prevent, reduce and phase out POPs chemicals and manage contaminated sites in an environmentally sound manner and mitigation of environmental contamination.
