The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) invites Non-profit organizations (NPOs) working in the Kyrgyz Republic to take part in a competition of proposals aimed at instrumentalizing legislation to change gender norms affecting women and girls at the community level, including through the expansion of the public awareness enhancement program and promoting change within institutions to address power imbalances and gender equality as fundamental issues.
The Call for Grant proposal is announced within the framework of the Joint EU-UN Spotlight Initiative to eliminate violence against women and girls (hereinafter the Project).
Goals
- Improve gender sensitivity of key central- and local- level state officials at the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Labor, Social Welfare and Migration through experiential learning trainings fostering internal reflection on structural and individual power imbalances.
- Facilitated the strengthening of the interface of the Ministry of Justice with end legal aid beneficiaries, key line ministries and agencies, women’s rights groups and organizations, as well as local authorities to design and implement legal awareness activities in the regions, including the setup of feedback loops.
- Improve multisectoral coordination across legal and social sectors (social workers and crisis centers) to improve essential service delivery to SGBV survivors.
Criteria
Applications can be submitted by applicants meeting the following criteria:
- Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) or Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) established and registered in the Kyrgyz Republic (hereinafter the Applicant). Commercial organizations, government agencies, as well as non-commercial organizations established by state agencies are not allowed to participate in the call for proposals.
- A consortium of two or more non-governmental organizations or civil society organizations established and registered in the Kyrgyz Republic (hereinafter the Applicant).
- All Consortium members – Grant Applicants shall be legal entities established and registered in the Kyrgyz Republic as non-governmental or civil society organizations in accordance with the current legislation.
- The Applicant shall submit the project proposal on behalf of one of the organizations authorized by the consortium member organizations to represent the consortium, with all subsequent commitments to its members and the Grantor.
- The Grant Applicant shall have at least 3 years of proven experience working with rural women, women’s rights groups, and/or networks and/or movements.
- The Grant Applicant shall have a network of women’s rights groups and/or activists and/or partner organizations in Chui, Naryn, and Osh provinces.
- Maximum coverage of target groups:
- At least 30 key central- and local- level state officials at the Ministry of Justice and Ministry of Labor, Social Welfare and Migration are trained using experiential learning tools, with at least 50% of them reporting changes in gender attitudes at the individual, family, and institutional levels.
- At least 150 representatives of local authorities, key service providers and activists were consulted on the development and implementation of activities to raise legal awareness in the regions.
- Project proposals with higher coverage of target groups than a minimum requirement will have an advantage.
- The project proposal is composed in strict accordance with the format; the information provided is complete, accurate, and clear.
- The project proposal must be flexible in terms of timeframe and regional coverage of implementation considering assumptions and risks of COVID-19. in each target region.
