The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is accepting proposals for the Low-Value Grant for Social Cohesion, Resilience and the opening up of Communities to support target municipalities in implementing initiatives to strengthen the common promoting social cohesion and promote the partnership between municipalities and Decentralized Technical Services social cohesion, resilience and opening up to contribute to peacebuilding.
Specific Objectives
- Support community self-help initiatives, including improved agricultural production and income-generating activities aimed at reducing poverty;
- Support the implementation of community initiatives through an approach learning in action (school building site, etc.);
- Promote social cohesion through the mobilization of members of the community for the implementation of projects of common interest;
- Promote the mobilization of young people through the implementation of projects of interest common promoting social cohesion;
- Promote the partnership between municipalities and Decentralized Technical Services in the implementation of local initiatives.
Funding Information
- The budget allocated for this LVG is $140,000.
Expected Results
- Community self-help initiatives, including the improvement of agricultural production and income-generating activities are supported and implemented artwork;
- Community peacebuilding initiatives are implemented through an action-learning approach (school building site, etc.);
- Community members mobilized to implement projects of common interest;
- Young people are mobilized in the implementation of projects of common interest promoting social cohesion;
- Partnership mechanisms are set up between the municipalities and the Services Decentralized techniques for the implementation of local development and peacebuilding initiatives.
Eligibility Criteria
- Eligible project leaders are:
- Associations, cooperatives;
- National or international NGOs (represented in Madagascar) working on the national territory;
- Non-state University or Academic Establishments
- Recognized expertise in the field of local development
- Good knowledge and experience in the District of Betroka, Amboasary, Iakora from Midongy du Sud and Bekily;
- Experience in managing financing of more than 100,000 USD would be an asset;
- Experience with United Nations agencies, particularly the Peacebuilding Fund, will be an asset.
- Each applicant structure must:
- have a legal status which allows it to receive subsidies;
- attach the official recognition document;
- have essential human and material resources in line with needs of the project;
- have good field experience.
- Be a local organization or at least an organization that has already intervened and has the experience in the areas to ensure continuity of support and monitoring after the start of the project.
