Deadline: 17-Mar-21
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is inviting applications for the “Migration and Local Development” Grant Program.
The UNDP / Migration and Local Development Project – Phase II (2019-2022) will continue to support the creation and capacity building of compatriot associations as partners of local authorities for sustainable development of settlements in Moldova with the participation of local residents who have left their homes.
The aim of the project “Migration and Local Development” is to support the development of local communities affected by migration in the Republic of Moldova by improving local public services and stimulating income-generating economic activities, including by encouraging the economic participation of the diaspora in the process of the economic revitalization of localities in their homeland.
During the implementation of the UNDP project “Migration and Local Development” (MiDL) in 2015-2018. with the financial support of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in 38 localities, more than 10,000 migrants took part in the implementation of more than 50 projects of economic development and development of local services in their home localities, which benefited more than 300,000 people.
All of these projects were jointly financed and implemented in partnership between local government authorities and migrants with the active participation of Compatriots Associations (AZ). At this stage in the Republic of Moldova, there are already more than 38 operating associations of fellow countrymen, created at the first stage of the UNDP project “Migration and Local Development”. With the support of the Congress of Local Authorities of Moldova, initiatives were put forward on the basis of this model and, using the UNDP methodology, to create 101 more associations of fellow countrymen (initiative groups have already been registered or created).
