The United Nations Development Programme has launched the USAID-funded Stop Gender-Based Violence in Tajikistan project to aim at preventing gender-based violence (GBV) and discrimination against women and girls.
Purpose
- The purpose of this small grants program is to enhance the capacity of CSOs to conduct small-scale research aimed at collecting evidence on interventions response of law enforcement agencies and the government to cases gender violence.
Funding Information
- Total: $44,000
- Grant amount: Up to $22,000 per CSO one in each region. Up to $44,000 for one CSO with republican registration, enabling implementation of the project in both regions.
Eligible Activities
- The CSOs are expected to carry out the following activities:
- Attend a two-day workshop on data collection methodology conducted by a UNDP national expert, with the provision of grant. UNDP will organize the seminar in Dushanbe.
- During the workshop, tools for data collection and the scope of the study has been defined. The terms of reference, containing all the necessary information on the data collection instruments, are attached for more specific information.
- Submitting the instruments and scope of the research they have developed and obtaining UNDP approval, ensuring compliance with best practices in such reporting.
- Conducting interviews, focus groups and analytical reviews, as indicated in the research proposal.
- Preparation and submission of a report on the conducted research UNDP report sample.
- Participation in a round table meeting organized by UNDP for familiarization with the research results.

Eligibility Criteria
- To qualify for this grant, a CSO must meet the following criteria:
- Legal registration
- The CSO must be officially registered in Tajikistan, and the registration must confirm that the CSO is eligible to operate in the project area.
- Relevant experience
- At least two years of proven experience in the field promoting gender equality, women and girls’ rights, or working on issues of domestic violence/GBV and the legal system in Tajikistan.
- Experience working with law enforcement and other institutions that deal with GBV issues and victims.
- Experience in advocacy on GBV issues at a national or international level. Some experience in data collection and analysis.
- Qualified team
- The head of the CSO and key staff must have relevant experience in related fields.
- Experience working together organizations.
- Community engagement
- Establishing connections with the local population in the region of CSO activity through implemented projects.
- Knowledge of the region
- Deep understanding of the region or area where the work will be carried out study.
- Deep understanding of gender and GBV issues in target countries regions.
- Financial integrity
- No outstanding financial debts that could affect the financial integrity of the CSO.
