United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has launched a call for expression of Interest under the project “Green Cities: Integrated Sustainable Urban Transport for the city of Batumi and the Achara Region (ISTBAR)” with an aim to promote green urban development in Georgia in an environmentally sustainable manner.
The project funded by the UNDP-GEF, seeks to select qualified non-governmental organization (or a group of NGOs) as a partner for supporting the development and formulation of national strategy and policy framework on sustainable low-carbon urban transport for Georgia.
Objectives
The project has three main objectives:
- to promote sustainable urban transport in the City of Batumi and the Region of Achara
- to support the formulation of national policies on sustainable urban transport
- to generate direct and indirect GHG emission reductions though implementing objectives (1) and (2)
Funding Information
- The maximum amount of the grant is USD 50,000 including management costs.
- The timeline of the works should not exceed 7 months.
Activities
General scope of the work assignment shall include but is not limited to, the following tasks/activities:
- Stakeholder analysis and identification of project owner on national level
- Analysis of current status of transport system in Georgian cities
- Analysis of current legal and regulatory framework of urban transport in Georgia
- Comprehensive review and comparative analysis of best international experience on sustainable urban transport frameworks
- Propose draft/final National Strategy and Policy Framework on Sustainable Low-Carbon Urban Transport for Georgia
- Propose an Institutional Framework for implementing national policy and strategy framework on sustainable urban transport
Eligibility Criteria
- At least 2 years’ experience in implementing urban development, urban transport development/planning and/or climate change mitigation related projects in Georgia.
- Proven experience in working on and developing of policy documents.
- Proven experience in working with Georgian local authorities as well as national governmental institutions will be an asset.
- Experience of implementing at least 1 project of the value no less than USD 50,000 within last 3 years.
- Good track record confirmed by at least 1 letter of reference from the clients and or donors on the urban development, urban transport development/planning, climate change mitigation projects implemented at least within the last 3 years.
- Previous experience of working with the UN or other development agencies, preferably in the areas of work specified in this announcement will be an asset.
