The United States Embassy is seeking applications from non- governmental organizations, schools, community associations, and other local groups for its Ambassador’s Self-Help Fund (SSH) with an aim to improve the quality of life for citizens and their communities in Côte d’Ivoire.
Over the years the Self-Help Program in Côte d’Ivoire has included a diverse range of projects that demonstrated community commitment and willingness to make a change. The program has supported projects that cover different areas of activity from improved access to potable water to vocational and educational trainings, from health and nutrition to agricultural and nature improvement projects.
The Self-Help Program in Côte d’Ivoire has improved the lives and livelihoods of communities throughout the country.
Any organization or community group may request funding for a public utility or community activity. Successful projects are designed to improve basic economic, social, and environmental conditions at the community level.
Funding Information
Grants typically range from $5,000 to $15,000.
Eligible Project
- The project must be initiated by the community and designed to improve community living conditions.
- The project should benefit a larger number of people within a short implementation period.
- The project must be completed within one year without requiring additional funding.
- The project must involve a significant local contribution in cash, labor, or material (approximately 25% of total cost of activity).
- The project must be sustainable in terms of funding, community support, and adequate expertise and manpower. Please include a plan on how the project will operate and be maintained after Self Help funding expires.
- The project must respect all Ivoirian environmental and building regulations
