The Iowa Arts Council has announced applications for Iowa Arts & Culture Resilience Grant Program – Nonprofits to provide flexible support to Iowa’s arts, humanities, and cultural nonprofit organizations to undertake activities that expand organizational capacity, increase financial stability, promote equity, and inclusion, and enhance programmatic offerings.
Funding Information
Grant amounts will be awarded based on an organization’s annual cash operating expenses, taken as an average of the organization’s last two fiscal years (2018 and 2019).

$10,000 – $49,999:
- Grant Award: $2,500

$50,000 – $149,999:
- Grant Award: $5,000
-
$150,000 – $499,999:
- Grant Award: $7,500
-
$500,000 +:
- Grant Award: $10,000
Eligibility Criteria
Eligible applicants must meet the following requirements. Entities who do not meet these requirements are not eligible to apply.
Type of Organization: Applicant must be a Nonprofit Art, Humanities, or Cultural Organization

has a primary purpose and mission statement to create, educate, produce, present or preserve content related to the arts, humanities, or interpretative sciences.
- Organizations whose primary mission is focused on other areas, such as economic development, health and wellness or social services, but offer some arts and/or cultural programming, are not eligible.
- an arts, humanities or cultural department or division of a municipal government that is also incorporated in Iowa under the Iowa Nonprofit Corporation Act (does not include libraries, parks, or recreation departments).
Operations
Applicant must:
- be incorporated in Iowa under the Iowa Nonprofit Corporation Act and hold federal 501(c)3 tax-exempt status
- be registered to do business in the State of Iowa with the Secretary of State’s Office

be physically located and operating in Iowa
- Physical location of the organization is defined as maintaining a current home office and registered agent address in Iowa defined by Iowa Code 490.501 as well as maintaining a primary staff presence physically located and working in Iowa
- Entities located in a border community may be eligible under the Border State Policy
- have an annual cash operating expense budget, exclusive of the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs and Iowa Arts Council general operating support, of $10,000 or more
Accessibility – Americans with Disabilities Act
Applicant must be in compliance or actively working to be in compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990. The laws prohibit discrimination against individuals with physical and/or mental disabilities. Both programmatic and structural accessibility must be addressed.
Strategic Plan
Applicant must demonstrate evidence of long-range planning. Acceptable forms of long-range planning may include an operating plan, multi-year budget, institutional or strategic plan.
