Pillars awards grants to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations working in or closely alongside Muslim communities in the United States.
Pillars is often an early funder for many organizations, and they have seen how a Pillars grant can have a catalytic effect. As the country continues to struggle toward its promise of liberty and equality for all, they reaffirm their commitment to American Muslim visionaries and community leaders.
Pillars makes grants to nonprofit organizations to advance three priorities:
- Rights: support social and policy change efforts that protect and expand the human and civil rights of them all.
- Wellness: They support the growth and nurturing of whole, healthy American Muslim communities.
- Understanding: They support a range of approaches to amplify American Muslim voices and create a deeper understanding of American Muslims.
Selection Criteria
- Program: Thoughtful and well-conceived proposals that clearly outline what issue(s) the project/organization will address and how.
- Leadership: Strong leadership with a track record of success and a proposal that explicitly articulates how the organization is accountable to the communities it seeks to serve.
- Impact (Relevance): Strategic and specific proposals that have the realistic potential to create a meaningful positive transformation for Muslims in the United States.
- Scope, Scale, & Capacity: Potential of carrying out the proposed work, clear plan for obtaining additional funding if necessary, and partnerships necessary to maximize resources.
