The Valentine Foundation is pleased to announce the Visionary Leadership Fund is with the aim to strengthen the organizations that improve the lives of women and girls in the Greater Philadelphia region.

The Valentine Foundation envisions a society in which all women and girls thrive. Recognizing the legacy of sexism, gender, and racial oppression, they prioritize funding of organizations and executive and emerging leaders who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color and women, trans, and gender-expansive people. They define women and girls as including women, trans, and gender-expansive individuals.
Visionary Leadership Fund Grants are only available to qualified organizations and will not be made available to individual applicants.
Funding Information
- Awards are made by May 2022 for leadership development activities initiated in 2022–2023.
- A total grant pool of $40,000–$45,000 will be awarded to successful applicants.
Geographic Region
- The Greater Philadelphia region refers to southeastern Pennsylvania counties (Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia) as well as contiguous counties in southern New Jersey (Camden) and Delaware (New Castle).
Eligibility Criteria
- Nonprofit organizations with paid staff operating in the Greater Philadelphia region whose primary focus and mission-driven activities serve to benefit women and/or girls are eligible to apply.
- The Leadership Fund seeks to support both current and emerging women leaders and will accept nominations for an individual or a group from the eligible organization.
- Consistent with Valentine Foundation’s commitment to supporting organizations whose primary focus is improving the lives of women and girls, applicant organizations must serve at least 70% female (inclusive of all who identify as female) OR have a program that serves 100% women and/or girls.
- If the organization is eligible because it has a program specifically for women and/or girls, the individual leader/s who benefit from this grant must have an active role within or responsibility for this program.
- Recognizing the racial leadership gap in local nonprofits, priority will be given to BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) applicants and leadership teams that include BIPOC women.
