The European Union Delegation to Cambodia decided to provide support through UNOPS to Reparations Projects that benefit the victims of the Democratic Kampuchea regime. It is a unique opportunity to finally bring closure to a dark chapter of Cambodian modern history and to create a more informed society. It is expected that by preserving and diffusing a part of Cambodian history which would otherwise be forgotten, new generations of young Cambodians can better understand the impact of this period on the current situation of their country.
This particular grant is aimed at raising awareness on the sufferings of the vulnerable and minority groups in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge Regime. The main goal is not only to reconcile the past, but also to address the impacts of past and continuing violence and marginalization of different population groups inside the country.
Objectives
- The objectives of this grant are to promote intergenerational and intercultural dialogue and human rights, as well as contribute to the truth, national reconciliation and conflict prevention process in Cambodia, raising awareness and education on the experiences of vulnerable and minority groups during the Khmer Rouge era.
- The objectives of this CFP are expected to be achieved through close partnership with the community leaders and representatives of vulnerable and minority groups in Cambodia.
Key stakeholders
Key stakeholders to be considered during the activities of this grant include, but shall notbe limited to:
- Vulnerable groups (e.g. women, older population, people with disabilities) and minority groups (e.g. indigenous and ethnic groups of population)
- Contemporaries from Khmer Rouge, and more specifically, Civil Parties
- CSOs and NGOs working in the sphere of supporting vulnerable and minority groups inside and outside Cambodia
Funding Information
The Proposal must not exceed USD $100,000.
Eligibility Criteria
- This Call for Proposals is open to international and national non-profit organizations currently operating in Cambodia. No governmental agencies, departments or ministries are eligible.
- Minimum requirements/qualifications:
- Organizations must have carried out similar activities to those under the scope of this CFP in Cambodia during the last five years, as well as adequate management, financial, administrative and technical structure and capacity to conduct the proposed activities.
- Established and tested Communication Approach aimed at raising awareness must be fully described in the application.
- A valid registration must be in place in order to operate in Cambodia. In case the candidate doesn’t hold a valid registration at the time of the submission of the proposal, it shall specify the timeline to obtain valid registration.
