The Global Grants Environment Facility (GEF) Grants Program is currently inviting NGOs and CSOs to submit project proposals for the following thematic areas:
- Promoting social inclusion:
- gender mainstreaming;
- involvement of young people.
- Platforms for dialogue between CSOs and the Government
The Small Grants Program of the Global Environmental Facility provides grants to non-governmental organizations and community organizations (NGOs / CSOs) in developing countries to enable them to cope with global environmental challenges while addressing the needs of sustainable development. The SGP motto is “community action with global impact!”.
GEF SGP operates in 126 countries. SGP Moldova started financing projects in 2013. Since then, it has been successful in funding and providing technical support for more than 30 projects supported through grants. The SGP is a corporate GEF program implemented by UNDP and executed by UNOPS.
Objectives
The following specific objectives can be highlighted:
- to raise awareness and understanding about GEF’s Small Grants Program, its strategy and results;
- experience exchange between NGOs / CSOs working to address global environmental issues to facilitate the exchange of experience and replication of best practice;
- promoting and strengthening stakeholder partnerships such as NGOs / CSOs, international funding organizations, central and local public authorities, business communities, and local communities.
Grant Information
- Grant size will not exceed US $ 50,000.
- NGOs are required to propose 1: 1 co-financing. The lower co-financing level is not a disqualification criterion for competitive project proposals. NGOs will be encouraged to raise the level of co-financing during the implementation period.
- The following funds are available for this contest:
- Promoting Social Inclusion: 59,500.00 USD.
- Platforms for dialogue between the OSC and the Government: 59,500.00 USD.
Eligibility Criteria
Only local nonprofit organizations can apply.
