The Office on Violence Against Women (OWV) has announced the applications for 2022 Sexual Assault Services (SAS) Culturally Specific Program to support nonprofit organizations that focus primarily on culturally specific communities and have experience in the area of sexual assault or who partner with an organization having such expertise.
The goal of the SAS Culturally Specific Program is to establish, maintain, and expand sustainable, culturally appropriate services that address the unique needs and challenges of victims of sexual assault from culturally specific communities.
Purpose Areas
Funds under this program must be used to support the establishment, maintenance, and expansion of culturally specific intervention and related assistance for victims of sexual assault. Such intervention and related assistance may include:
- 24-hour hotline services providing crisis intervention services and referral. Accompaniment and advocacy through medical, criminal justice, and social support systems, including medical facilities, police, and court proceedings.
- Crisis intervention, short-term individual and group support services, and comprehensive service coordination and supervision to assist sexual assault victims and family or household members.
- Information and referral to assist the sexual assault victim and family or household members.
- Community-based, culturally specific services and support mechanisms, including outreach activities for underserved communities.
- Development and distribution of materials on issues related to the services.

- Anticipated Total Amount to be Awarded Under Solicitation: $3,750,000.00
- Anticipated Maximum Dollar Amount of Awards: $300,000.00
- Period of Performance Duration (Months): 36
- The award period is 36 months. Budgets must reflect 36 months of project activity, and the total “estimated funding” on the SF-424 must reflect 36 months. OVW anticipates that the award period will start on October 1, 2022.
- This program typically makes awards in the range of $280,000-$300,000. OVW estimates that it will make up to 12 awards for an estimated $3,750,000.
- Awards under this program for FY 2022 will be made for up to $300,000 for the entire 36 months.

- Others
- Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Eligible applicants are limited to: private nonprofit organizations for which the primary purpose of the organization as a whole is to provide culturally specific services to American Indians (including Alaska Natives, Eskimos, and Aleuts), Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders, Blacks, or Hispanics in the United States or U.S. territories.
