Purpose

The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to support innovative research conducted with universities located in Thailand with a focus on protecting and improving health globally.

This NOFO’s main outcomes are to advance novel research into
- Preventing infectious disease threats;
- Detecting disease outbreaks, and
- Investigating the effectiveness of intervention strategies. Research should aid the development of tools for researchers, policymakers, or public health workers to better understand and respond to public health diseases in the United States and Thailand.

This NOFO consists of two categories:
- Category 1: Global Health Security, and
- Category 2: HIV and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs).
Objectives

This project supports the following Healthy People 2030 objectives:
- Increase the number of individuals trained globally to prevent, detect, or respond to public health threats (GH-D01)
- Increase the number of globally important public health events that are tracked and reported (GH-D02)
- Increase laboratory diagnostic testing capacity, surveillance, and reporting globally (GH-D03)
- Reduce the number of new HIV infections (HIV-01)
- Reduce the number of new HIV diagnoses (HIV-03).

- For profit organizations other than small businesses
- Small businesses
- Special district governments
- Nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
- Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities
