Deadline: 15 March 2018
The U.S. Embassy Banjul, in collaboration with the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), is seeking proposals from local NGOs whose areas of operation cover communities hosting refugees for its 2018 Julia Taft Refugee Fund.
Julia Taft Refugee Fund projects are meant to meet low-cost gaps in refugee protection and assistance in The Gambia. This initiative also provides the U.S. Ambassador with the means to respond to critical gaps that have not been addressed in larger multilateral refugee programs. Worldwide, in FY2017, projects were funded in 54 different countries with 27 of them located in Africa.
Eligibility Criteria
- The U.S. Embassy is looking for project proposals that meet the following criteria:
- Provide assistance to refugees or refugee returnees.
- Benefit both populations of concern and their host communities.
- Provide non-emergency assistance.
- Require a maximum of $25, 000.
- Generally, requests to provide funding to populations other than refugees/returnees are discouraged, but exceptions may be made for “populations of concern” to PRM, such as internally displaced persons (IDPs), vulnerable migrants, and stateless persons.
