Under ROUND 6 entitled “Water Resources Management for Enhanced Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WRM-WASH)”, USAID/GH is seeking Concept Papers that incorporate interventions that will build upon and expand USAID’s efforts to reduce water-borne diseases in Nigeria.
The project(s) will aim to engage with and leverage the reach of new and underutilized local entities and partners, especially those that can leverage funding from sources other than USG to reduce waterborne disease in Nigeria.
Objectives
- The purpose of this activity is to reduce water-borne diseases in Nigeria.
- To achieve this purpose, the activity will target rural areas through support of sustainable, market-driven water supply, sanitation, and hygiene services within an integrated water resource management framework. Activities must address one or more of the following objectives:
- Improve water supply and sanitation services delivery, and key hygiene behaviors, while addressing the spread of COVID-19;
- Protect and improve watershed health and function.
Funding Information
- USAID intends to provide up to $10 million in total USAID funding to be allocated over five years.
- The target minimum award size is $2 million.
Period of Performance
- For ROUND 6: WRM-WASH, the anticipated start date for the award(s) is on or about January 31, 2021.
Geographic Focus
- WRM-WASH’s primary beneficiaries will include communities affected by water pollution and watershed degradation Nigeria.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicant organizations must propose (and meet) one of the following modalities to be considered eligible:
- Modality 1: Direct awards to new and underutilized organizations that are local entities in the host country(ies) in which the applicant is applying.
- Modality 2: Direct awards to new and underutilized organizations that are locally established partners (LEPs) in the host country(ies) in which the applicant is applying.
- Modality 3: Sub-awards to local new or underutilized partners via prime awardees serving in a limited mentorship role Local Entity Sub-Awardees Moving to Direct Award.
- Modality 4: Direct awards to partners to leverage private/non-USAID funding.
- A local entity’ means an individual, a corporation, a nonprofit organization, or another body of persons that:
- Is legally organized under the laws of, and have its principal place of business in the country served by the WRM-WASH program with which the entity is or may become involved;
- Has as its principal place of business or operations in the Country for which the WRM-WASH program will be performed;
- Is majority-owned by individuals who are citizens or lawful permanent residents of; and
- Is managed by a governing body the majority of who are citizens or lawful permanent residents of the country receiving assistance. For purposes of this section, ‘majority-owned’ and ‘managed by’ include, without limitation, beneficiary interests, and the power, either directly or indirectly, whether exercised or exercisable, to control the election, appointment, or tenure of the organization’s managers or a majority of the organization’s governing body by any means.”
- A ‘locally established partner’ means the U.S. or international organization that works through locally-led operations and programming models.
