USAID announces Climate Resilient Cities Project – Philippines

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified entities to implement the Climate Resilient Cities project.

The Climate Resilient Cities (CRC) Project is a five-year activity in the Philippines that seeks to improve resilience1 by strengthening the adaptive capacities of cities to adapt to and manage the impacts of climate change.

Objectives

The main goal of the five-year Climate Resilient Cities Project is to improve resilience by strengthening the adaptive capacities of Philippine cities to adapt to, mitigate, and manage the impacts of climate change and disasters. This goal will be achieved through the following specific objectives:

  • To enhance cities’ capacity to understand, use, and communicate climate data including vulnerability, and risk data;
  • To improve the cities’ capacity to access and manage climate financing; and
  • To enable cities to implement or upscale innovative measures to conserve, restore or sustainably manage the environment under the lens of climate change adaptation or mitigation.

Funding Information

  • USAID intends to award one cooperative agreement pursuant to this notice of funding opportunity. Subject to funding availability and at the discretion of the Agency, USAID intends to provide $15 million in total USAID funding over a five year period.
  • Award Floor: $13,000,000.

Outcomes

  • Outcome 1: Capacity to develop, uses, and communicate climate change data in planning and programming enhanced
  • Outcome 2: Financing mobilized for local climate change adaptation and mitigation
  • Outcome 3: Environment conserved, restored or sustainably managed at the local level
