The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) as represented by USAID/Ethiopia is currently seeking concept notes from qualified entities to implement the “Empowering Youth with Disabilities Activity”.
The USAID/Ethiopia Mission is soliciting concepts to support programming in the area of Employment and Economic Empowerment (EEE) of Persons with Disabilities for potential funding through the Center of Excellence on Democracy, Human Rights and Governance (DRG) within the Bureau of Democracy, Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance (DCHA) of the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
The purpose of this Activity is to empower youth (ages 12-29) with disabilities by implementing inclusive and targeted activities that address the specific needs of persons with disabilities. The overall objective is to contribute to USAID/Ethiopia’s goal of empowering youth to advance their own economic, civic, and social development so they can contribute more robustly to peace and prosperity. This Activity will contribute to Ethiopia’s Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS 2019-2024) DO 4: Sub-IR 4.2.2 Youth employability and soft skills enhanced.
The Youth Empowerment Project (YEP) seeks to apply a positive youth development lens by engaging with youth more systematically, delivering civic engagement, economic opportunities, and the use of quality health services for holistic and integrated youth programming linked to several existing and planned Activities.
Funding Information
- USAID intends to provide approximately $1,000,000 in total USAID funding over a three-year period.
- The anticipated period of performance is three years from the effective date of award. The estimated start date will be July 1, 2020.
Eligibility Criteria
Only local organizations as defined below are eligible for award. USAID defines a “local entity” as an individual, a corporation, a nonprofit organization, or another body of persons that:
- Is legally organized under the laws of; and
- Has as its principal place of business or operations in; and
- Is majority owned by individuals who are citizens or lawful permanent residents of; and
- Is managed by a governing body the majority of who are citizens or lawful permanent residents of the country receiving assistance.
- USAID welcomes applications from organizations that have not previously received financial assistance from USAID.
