The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) is seeking applications for a cooperative agreement from qualified entities to implement the Supporting Victims of Violence activity.
USAID/Jamaica’s assistance towards this Support to Victims of Violence (VOV) activity will help improve coordination and synergies among key NGOs in an effort to expand programmatic impact, better target scarce resources where these are needed, avoid duplication of efforts, and ensure wide-reaching, high-quality services. Since the response to interpersonal violence requires a multi-sectoral approach, it is critical that interventions are coordinated and priority is placed on collaborative efforts by stakeholders from national to community levels. By building linkages and communication between NGOs and government services, the activity will provide much-needed coordination, support the GOJ activities in this space, and help NGOs strengthen their quality and coverage of their interventions.
Objectives
- Objective 1: Expand survivors’ and witnesses’ access to integrated direct services.
- Objective 2: Strengthen GOJ and civil society institutional capacity to support victims, witnesses and others (perpetrators within the target group) affected by the cycle of violence through coordinated and effective interventions to both address and prevent interpersonal and collective violence.
Funding Information
USAID intends to award one (1) Cooperative Agreement pursuant to this notice of funding opportunity. Subject to funding availability and at the discretion of the Agency, USAID intends to provide $10 million in total USAID funding over a four year period.
Outcomes
- Increased awareness of services and rights.
- Increased access to quality protection services for survivors and witnesses.
- Institutional capacity of government entities and other stakeholder groups that provide support for victims of violence is strengthened and interventions are well coordinated.
- Shifts in attitudes and behaviors toward violence (for example, reduced tolerance for and use of violence to resolve conflicts).
Eligibility Criteria
- USAID welcomes applications from organizations that have not previously received financial assistance from USAID.
- Faith-based organizations are eligible to apply for federal financial assistance on the same basis as any other organization and are subject to the protections and requirements of Federal law.
