UNDP: Blue Accelerator Grant Scheme (Fiji)

Deadline: 27 March 2020

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) in Vietnam is seeking applications for a fixed amount award from eligible prospective Vietnam organizations to implement the program entitled “USAID Local Works for Environmental Health”.

Goals and Objectives

This program aims to change behaviors that cause environmental pollution that harms human health. The strategic approach is to foster collective action by local actors (Government of Vietnam, private sector, social organizations and citizens) to raise awareness of the causes and effects of environmental health challenges, and increase knowledge of effective strategies for reducing environmental pollution.

The program is designed to advance locally-owned development, therefore, the direct service delivery is not the focus but rather empowering local actors to take lead in identifying and addressing environmental health challenges. Local actors are the cornerstone of sustainable development, and locally led development closely aligns with the Journey to Self-Reliance.

Outcomes

This objective will be achieved through 2 outcomes:

  1. Increased capacity of local actors to collectively engage and network with constituents, stakeholders, government, and resource partners addressing environmental health challenges.
  2. Increased local actors capacity to produce, access, and use data to monitor, analyze, publicize and advocate policy solutions for locally determined-environmental health problems.
